Painting in Provence Tour, 8 days Sept. 4-12, 2020
In addition to our traditional 10-day tour of Provence during the "lavender season" we have added 2 tours for painters!
With professional instruction, artists at any level are welcomed. We paint the beautiful landscapes, quaint villages or Provencal people and capture this incredible experience on paper or canvas. This summer, we excited to offer 2- 8 day painting workshops led by art instructor and painter Kurt Swartz of Virginia, and Martin Campos from Philadelphia. Both instructors have lead numerous painting workshops abroad and we are honored to work with them.
The summer tour takes place in early July when the nearby lavender fields are in full bloom. We stay the entire trip in a 7 bedroom, 7 bath villa in the village of St. Cécile-les-Vignes, (located just east of Orange), within easy walking distance to all the village amenities such as a small grocery store, several cafes, restaurants, an ATM, the Post Office, and village shops.
This private home will become your home for the time that you are here, so that you can unpack and relax. There are several restaurants to choose from in St. Cécile, however the kitchen is fully equipped and yours to use if don't want to go out for dinner, or you wish to keep and enjoy the fresh goodies you find at the market. We have a pool, small library, T.V., wifi, and washing machine for your use. The very large game room is great for painting, yoga, ping pong, pool, or meditation. All the bedrooms are large and there are great areas to congregate within the house and property, yet enough space to find some privacy as well. Because of the size of the house, the tour is only available to a maximum of 12 people.
We pick you up from the Marseille airport or the Avignon train station and you can leave all the driving to us. Daily excursions to historic sites, Roman ruins, provencal markets, wine tours and tastings, and of course excursions to see the nearby terraced hills of lavender, (both in the morning and at sunset) in the summer are included. We serve some of our group meals at home (usually on the terrace) and others at local restaurants. If you prefer to stay home one day and lounge by the pool with a book, paint in the large and well-lit common room or just enjoy life in the village, you are always free to do so.
The best part of being in Provence is adapting to the lifestyle. Lingering over a delicious lunch under an umbrella, sticking your toes in the river, enjoying live music at the market, sitting out on the terrace at night, sipping on a glass of chilled rosé , listening to the cicadas (or sometimes an owl) and watching the stars.
This is a magical place and we make it easy for you to step right in, enjoy the best sights, meet some locals, land in a beautiful house, and enjoy the companionship of others as you Experience Provence.
